IELTS ONE SKILL RETAKE
If you sat IELTS on computer and passed three skills but Writing came in short, you may not need to sit the full test again. One Skill Retake lets you retake Writing alone, within 60 days of your original test, and keep the other three scores. Here is how it works, and how to actually pass it.
Do you qualify for One Skill Retake?
Three conditions apply: you took the computer-delivered test, you are within 60 days of that test date, and the score you need to improve is one skill, not all four. If you sat the paper test, or you are outside the 60-day window, One Skill Retake is not available and you will need to sit the full test again.
Book it through the same body you tested with. It replaces only the Writing score on your Test Report Form, everything else stays.
Why booking the retake is not the hard part
Most people who use One Skill Retake sit it the same way they sat Writing the first time, and get the same score back. The 60-day window only helps if you spend it differently: find the two or three issues that capped your last essay, train exactly those, then rewrite under timed conditions before the retake.
Use the 60 days well
Start with the Diagnostic Learning Cycle for $24: write one essay, get your five band-limiting issues quoted from your own writing in minutes, and train the lessons your codes point at. If your retake date allows it, roll into the full 14-day Sprint or Sprint Pro cohort. Sprint Pro carries the Band Guarantee: complete the course and your Writing score rises by at least 1.0 band, up to Band 7.0, or we extend you free, then pay your One Skill Retake fee, then refund you.
